Indian broilers not affected by truck strike
Broiler farms in Coimbatore district dependent largely
on the Kerala market, have not been affected much by a lorry strike that enters
its fourth day.
"Our business is not affected much as there was no problem in the movement
of light motor vehicles, mostly used by us, in Kerala
broiler movement by and large is as usual," said R. Lakshmanan, Chairman of the
Broiler Coordination Committee.
However, about 10 to 15% of broiler loads that are being transported by
lorries could be affected. Poultry farmers in other nearby areas said that they
had incurred losses as a result of the strike and were selling their birds
