Poultry housing product marks landmark sales growth

Worldwide sales by Food Chain Innovation of the energy-efficient lining material Valéron AVA have reached another landmark, topping 300,000 sq metres coming off the production line in Bristol, UK.

The material, used to conserve energy in poultry housing in cool climates and to protect against heat in hot countries, is now being used in more than nine countries on four continents.

“Brooding costs are up to 30% lower, with initial heating up time reduced to a matter of a few hours from the usual 24 hours plus because of the properties of Valeron and its ability to seal a poultry house so well,” said Allan Meldrum, director of Food Chain Innovation.

“We see improved litter quality through better environment control, with a reduction in topping up saving 25% in litter usage.

“I believe one of the most exciting benefits is a seven to nine per cent increase in average daily weight gain.  In both hot and temperate countries Valeron’s ability to reflect 95% of the sun’s radiant heat and to seal a building keeps the birds in a more comfortable and productive environment.”

These benefits are leading to continually increasing sales, with customers in countries such as Kenya and South Africa the latest to place substantial orders after carrying out their own trials assessing the benefits and durability of this lining.
