Dutch poultry allowed outdoors
The Dutch Agriculture Ministry, on 15 April, lifted a ban ordering commercial poultry to remain indoors.
The Netherlands, Europe’s second-biggest poultry producer after France, temporarily ordered its poultry indoors in the beginning of March after H5N1 was found in a turkey farm in Britain, rekindling fears the disease could return to northern Europe.
“Poultry can be allowed outdoors because the monitoring of wild birds in the Netherlands and the European Union showed no traces of the disease,” said the Ministry.
