Probiotics in the poultry industry?

Phasing out antibiotic growth promoters (AGP) from poultry diets in Europe and recent moves toward reduction or removal of these compounds in other parts of the world including North America has put tremendous pressure on the poultry industry to look for viable alternatives.

Supplementing poultry diets with probiotics has been one of approaches available to the industry. There are so many published studies over the past 10-15 years which have investigated different aspects of probiotics applications in poultry diets.
I. Where does the industry go with probiotics as an alternative for antibiotics?
II. Is probiotics supplementation cost-effective?
III. How does composition (i.e. bacterial species) of probiotics affect their efficacy?
IV. What are your practical experiences of probiotics use?

As per result of my studies on the utilization of probiotics both in poultry and swine, I was able to come up with the result proving that probiotics when used in the ration really enhanced the growth and yield of animals used and it was proven to be a cost effective when producing a drug-free animals.

As my experience for Probiotic user, it will benefic if we really know about the contain and control all the contain in more stable level because nowaday most of the probiotic products are difficult to control for all bacteris contain in the product. I have used the probiotic that claim their contain in the label and it worked all the time. But the cost of probiotic normally are a litter bit expensive when compared with drug because we must be used every day with the more volume.

We have used both prebiotics and probiotics on our flocks of layers and broilers and found that both are equally effective as compared to antibiotic supplements with added benefits of enhanced immunity titre of the flocks

AS FOR MY IMPRESSION IS CONCERN FOR USE OF PROBIOTICS,THESE ARE BENEFICIAL TO GET BETTER HEALTH STATUS,F.C.R,AND TO BUILT OVER ALL DISEASE RESISTANT IN ANIMAL.AND THAT SHOULD BE USED ONCE UNTIL THERE IS GREAT STREE ON ANIMAL TO MAKE IT COST EFFECTIVE.BECAUSE ONE PROBIOTICS CONTAINS GIVEN THEY CAN MULTIPLY AND REMAIN LONGER UNTILL THERE IS CHANGE IN GUT PH DUE TO DISEASE/STRESS CONDITION. THERE FOR IN THAT CONDITION A FRESH SHOT CAN BE GIVEN.

As antibiotics made a revolution in the medecine, probiotics will create new approaches.

We have to use probiotics worldwide ignoring the cost and ...

We have to use them because of common health, Antibiotic resistance and...

But I expect companies to make training courses for best use.

My studies on the utilization of probiotics both in poultry and fish. It proved that adding probiotic to broiler water, will enhance the growth by 15%. In a recerculated closed water system fish ( common carp, 25gr?) fed on expaimental diet with probiotic, showed a good growth(25days).But after seven weeks, no significant differences in the growth with the control. That may be, they shared the same water!!.

After ban on antibiotics as growth promoters probiotics is the next big thing. Presently i am working on dose of probiotics to be given to broilres which is one of the most important factors for efficient use and cost reduction.
