Disturbing chicken advert escapes ban

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) reportedly distributed an advert depicting KFC's Colonel Sanders covered in blood slaughtering a chicken - the ad has escaped a ban from the Advertising Standards Authority.

A member of the public made a complaint after a leaflet was put through her door depicting the cartoon image on it. The text on the leaflet read: "KFC Cruelty: The Colonel's secret recipe includes: live scalding, painful debeaking, crippled chickens."
It was further reported by Eat Out Magazine that the recipient felt the material was unsuitable for delivery through home doors and was offensive and irresponsible, particularly as children could pick it up.
However, according to the Advertising Standards Authority, the advert was not targeted inappropriately and was unlikely to cause distress and harm to children.
