Waitrose – 100% free-range
As of 1 July 2008, Waitrose will switch all products to free-range eggs. This comes 6 months ahead of plans.
According to Talking Retail, this comes at the end of a three-year redevelopment of Waitrose’s own-label foods.
The supermarket chain has not stocked fresh eggs laid by caged hens since 2001, and achieved free-range egg status for all its chilled and frozen foods in 2006.
Now, in the final step, the UK supermarket will complete the move for the final 5% of eggs.
