Americans worried about contaminated food

21-07-2008 | | |

According to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll, 46% of Americans said they were worried they might get sick from eating contaminated food.

These consumers have also stated that they have avoided foods they normally would have purchased because of safety warnings.
This is a result of a fear that has built up in consumers with the recent food safety problems with meat and produce.
Additionally, 29% have thrown out food earlier than usual, and 14% have returned food to the store where the produce was purchased.
Furthermore, the results of the poll showed that 39% of men were “very confident” the food they buy is safe, while only 23% of women said they felt that way.
The poll was conducted with 1,000 adults in July.
