Russian poultry production in 2010 increases by 15.5%

Russia's total volume of poultry meat production in 2010 amounted to 2771.3 thousand tonnes of liveweight, which is a 15.5% increase over the level of 2009.

Turkey production
Form this figure about 67.3 tonnes was from turkey production. According to market analysis prepared by analytical agency "Navigator", huge growth prospects are currently observed in the Russian turkey market. While sales of broilers grow on average by 13-14% per year, the growth rate of the turkey segment is about 35% - 50% annually. In general, poultry farming in Russia shows more dynamic development rate than the beef and pork industries.

Domestic poultry
From the study it emerged that Russians are willing to pay an average cost of 5-7% more for domestic poultry products, than for the imported production. Therefore, in the Russian poultry market a stable preference for domestic products exists.

Russian egg industry
The egg industry in Russia over the past two years also demonstrates a high level of development, maintaining an average annual growth rate about 3-4%. In 2010 the market volume increased by 4.6% compared with 2009 and has been totally amounted to 43.1 billion pieces.

Most Russian eggs have been produced in the Volga Federal District. In 2010 its output equalled 10.3 billion pieces. Central Federal District is in second place with a capacity of 8.2 billion pieces. The third in the list is South Federal District with 5.8 billion eggs of total output.
