Poultry processors merge to strengthen position in market

Plukon Royale and the Stolle family have concluded an agreement in principle for the merger of Friki Germany and the Stolle Group.

Both the Stolle Group and the Plukon Royale Group specialise in fresh, pre-packaged products for supermarket chains and fresh and frozen poultry for the food service segment and food industry in north-western Europe. The turnover from the processing activities in 2010 was approximately 740 million euros for the Plukon Royale Group and approximately 370 million euros for the Stolle Group.

The Plukon Royale Group has five locations in the Netherlands, three in Belgium and two in Germany. A total of 2,700 people are employed at these locations. The Stolle Group has four locations in Germany, which employ a total of 1,500 people.

The proposed merger of the Stolle Group and Friki Germany aims to further both companies’ ambitions of securing a leading position on the German poultry market, which endeavour also focuses on the continuity and quality of supply. Plukon Royale and the four businesses of the Stolle family are excellently suited to each other and all have a strong financial basis. The Stolle family will continue to be financially and personally involved in the newly created group.

Jointly the new group encompasses approximately 1.1 billion euros in turnover, more than 4,000 employees, 13 production locations and processes some 6.5 million chickens and turkeys per week.

The transaction will be submitted to the relevant competition authorities for approval.
