Cherkizovo chairman inspects new poultry construction
Chairman of Cherkizovo Group board of directors Igor Babaev and Governor of Lipetsk region Oleg Korolev have inspected Cherkizovo’s major infrastructure facilities under construction in Elets District, Russia.
Large-scale construction is underway as part of the Eletsprom project, which the group began implementing in 2011. The project's main objectives are to establish a unique poultry cluster, promote the company's leadership on the poultry meat market, and offer residents of Lipetsk Region high-quality Russian-made food products.
During the inspection, Babaev informed Korolev about the commissioning dates for the main facilities and planned capacities. According to the chairman, the hatchery designed for laying 240 million eggs per year will be one of the largest in Europe. Equipment for it has already been purchased from the Dutch company Pas Reform. Start-up of the hatchery will substantially reduce the Group's incubation costs.
The planned work schedule includes building a storage facility for 220,000 tonnes of feed, and construction of a poultry production facility for 56 bird houses is nearing completion. The group plans to finish construction of the facilities by the end of this year. According to Babaev, total investments will be 5 billion roubles, and the project will create new jobs in the region. The project also includes construction of technical and engineering structures, storage facilities and several residences for specialists.
Korolev noted that: "Projects like the one Cherkizovo Group is implementing in our region will help guarantee the country's food safety. Cherkizovo Group is a strategically important investor for Lipetsk Region. In turn, we are supporting the company in carrying out investment projects as far as possible. The region particularly has assumed the obligation to maintain infrastructure for the Elets agroindustrial complex."
