Hungarian firm claims development of human H5N1 vaccine

The Hungarian firm, Omnivest, claims to have developed a human vaccine against the deadly H5N1 bird flu virus.

According to the a report in the Gazeta Wyborcza, Hungary’s Prime minister Ferenc Gyurcsany showed an ampoule of the liquid and said “nobody else currently has the production technology”.
Meanwhile, France started slaughtering poultry in its eastern Ain region, where the H5N1 strain of bird flu was first found, Le Figaro writes. All in all, 950,000 birds, which do not carry the virus, but have been banned from sales, could be slaughtered in five weeks.
