More poultry farmers choosing needle-free vaccination

Poultry producers are increasingly moving towards needle-free injecting technology, according to company Medical International (MIT), which has experienced increased sales and trials of its low-pressure injecting products.

According to the company, current vaccination methods mean that needles need to be changed after every few hundred birds, and that cross contamination may still occur. The company also says that needle-based vaccinations increase the risks to the person undertaking the vaccinating - through accidental needlestick injuries.
Trials of MIT's low-pressure needle-free injection technology are underway with Cargill turkey breeders, and the Agro Jet range is already being used by Jennie O turkey farms and Merial chicken farms.
