Rise in Brazilian poultry expected

21-02-2007 | |

It is expected that there will be a sharp increase in Brazilian poultry production. This will result in major export opportunities.

A rebound in broiler exports, firm domestic demand, economic growth, lower inflation, a drop in unemployment and higher real income are all contributing factors that contribute to the rise in broiler production.
However, market analysts note some constraints that may adversely impact on production and trade of Brazilian poultry in the year ahead, including further appreciation of the Brazilian currency relative to the US dollar.
This could impact profitability in the production line due to higher production costs. Higher corn and soybean prices also remain an issue.
Brazil is free of bird flu, however, the country is in the path of some migratory birds.
