Kayem Foods Inc., a Chelsea-based firm, is recalling
some 35,580 pounds (16,138 kg) of raw chicken sausage products due to an
undeclared allergen (wheat), announced the US Department of Agriculture's
Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The poultry product, which fails to list wheat (a potential allergen)
as an ingredient, subject to recall is: 1-pound packages of "al fresco,
MANGO CHIPOTLE, sweet and spicy CHICKEN SAUSAGE." Each label bears the
establishment number "P-18388" inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The chicken sausage products were produced between 16 April, 2005 and 8
May, 2007, and were distributed to retail establishments and distribution
warehouses in Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan,
New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia,
and Wisconsin.
There have been no reports of illness received by the FSIS due to
consumption of these products.
