No chicken shortages in Barbados

The chicken industry in Barbados is confident that there will be an ample supply of the meat in the market this Christmas.

The Egg and Poultry Producers Association says that there will be no shortage of chicken meat this Christmas season. The Association has also rejected suggestions of a chicken shortage in the country. President of the Association, Carlyle Brathwaite, says they are aiming to satisfy the demand of 1.8 – 2 million kg.
Brathwaite says that poultry producers have increased their production about 80% and will have a full stock within the next three months, adding that by Christmas there will be 400 kg of chicken in cold storage, which is up from the 217,000 kg at present.
