Hong Kong resumes poultry imports from UK

27-11-2008 | |

Hong Kong has now lifted an import ban on poultry and poultry products from the United Kingdom.

Hong Kong will now resume importing poultry meat and products from the entire UK, lifting the import suspension on Oxfordshire and Warwickshire counties.

The Centre for Food Safety suspended imports following the detection of avian influenza in the UK in June.

“In view of the control measures taken by Oxfordshire and Warwickshire counties and the fact that there are no other cases of avian influenza reported, we decide to resume processing of applications,” said a spokesman for the Centre.

No more avian flu cases have been reported.
