Norway increases poultry production

Statistics Norway has reported that in 2007, 297,000 tonnes of meat from domestic animals was approved for the market, which is an increase of 4,000 tonnes from 2006.

Poultry accounted for 24% o the total amount of meat produced, while pork accounted for 40% of the total and beef made up 29% of the total.

When compared to 2006 figures, the quantity of poultry and pork increased, while the quantity of beef and mutton declined.

From 2006 to 2007, the production of meat from poultry increased by 12%. Since 1997, the production has more than doubled, from 33,400 tonnes in 1997 to 70,000 tonnes in 2007.
