UK farmers demand relaxation eco-rules

02-01-2009 | |

UK farmers that produce organically want less stringent rules for their eco produce to minimise the growing crisis in the agricultural sector.

The sale of (often more expensive) organically produced food is shrinking in the UK. According to the latest figures, 10% less has been sold compared to last year (2007). The total sale of food on the other hand is 6% higher than last year.

Many producers of eco food are therefore forced to sell their animals as conventional produced animals. This means they not receive the bonus for eco products.
