India: Gov’t veterinarians retirement age raised
MP Congress Committee Employees’ Cell state president Virendra Khongal has demanded the state government to increase the retirement age of veterinary doctors from 60 to 62 years.
Dr Ramkrishna Kusmariya stated in a memo to the Chief Minsiter Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Animal Husbandry Minister, that the state government has increased the retirement age of doctors of health department to 62 years.
However the veterinary doctors are not given this benefit. He said that 1,329 veterinary doctors are working in rural areas. As per orders issued by the GAD dated 20-8-1975 the state government has been treating veterinary doctors in line with doctors working under the medical department.
Khongal said that the Fifth Pay Commission had treated the veterinary doctors in line with other medical doctors and had given equal pay and other benefits including retirement age.
As per decision of the Central Government, the Chhattisgarh and several other state governments had already increased the retirement age of veterinary doctors to 62. But the MP Government is lagging behind in this regard, he said.
