Slovenia: Farmers gather for Aviagen seminar

01-07-2009 | |

Over 30 broiler farmers from Pivka and their subsidiary Jata Emona D.D., both important Ross customers in Slovenia, recently gathered in Pivka for their third annual Aviagen Seminar and Ross Flock Awards.

The event, which combined a mixture of technical and veterinary advice with practical workshops, highlighted a number of key areas. Kruno Bosilj, Technical Service Manager, gave a presentation on water management, looking at all areas ranging from water consumption rates, management of drinking systems and vaccination administration through the drinking systems.

With the summer now well underway, ventilation was high on the agenda. Neil Clark, Technical Service Manager, gave a presentation focusing on the different systems available and how to manage these systems. The presentation was followed by lively discussions, which provided an opportunity for delegates to share experiences and management tips with each other.

Jonny Harrison, Regional Technical Director, for Aviagen said: “The Ross broiler has adapted well to the Slovenian market and continues to show year on year improvement in performance. These seminars are a great opportunity for customers to get together to discuss the latest developments within the sector and any technical support requirements they may have. For us as a company it’s important that we develop a partnership approach with our customers, and through events like these, ongoing technical support, farm visits and the publication of new supporting literature we can help maximise stock performance.”

The event also saw the top three Ross broiler flock farmers presented with a Flock Award by Kruno and Neil, the technical managers responsible for this customer. The winners were Berta Zafred, Albert Karuza and Mirka Milanic.
