Update on worldwide mycotoxin contamination
Feed additive manufacturer Biomin has published an update of its quarterly Mycotoxin Report.
Publishing this report, the company, headquartered in Herzogenburg, Austria, aims to give poultry and livestock producers around the globe more insight in worldwide mycotoxin contamination of agricultural commodities for the period between January and June 2009.
The company writes: “In this 6-month period, a total of 4,019 analyses were carried out for the most important mycotoxins in terms of agriculture and animal production – aflatoxins (Afla), zearalenone (ZON), deoxynivalenol (DON), fumonisins (FUM) and ochratoxin A (OTA).”
The analysis and data have been divided into different regions: America (North, Central and South), Asia (South-East, South and North), Oceania, Europe (Northern, Central and Southern), Middle East and Africa.
Samples tested ranged from cereals such as corn, wheat, barley and rice to processing by-products, namely soybean meal, corn gluten meal, dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) and other fodder such as straw, silage and finished feed.
