The premises are located on an area of about 1,300 hectares, mainly cropland.
-
The objective of founder and president Claudio Farina was to start a state of the art operation in the processing business, enabling Ovobrand to work globally and making them less dependent on just the Argentine market.
-
Ovobrand have their own feed plant, which is located before the sanitation gate. Thus, trucks will be prevented from entering the premises.
-
Every vehicle entering the premises, will be cleaned thoroughly by means of high water pressure.
-
The rearing houses are located at a safe distance from the layer houses. Apart from another sanitation gate, a fence is protecting the house from unwanted visitors.
-
Currently Ovobrand has two facilities for rearing 130,000 pullets each. All birds are Hy-Line W36. Mortality during rearing is only 1.68% in the worst case. Also 1.22% was achieved.
-
Biosecurity measures include traps to control rodents and keep them away from the houses.
-
The lawn surrounding the rearing houses is permanently kept very short. This is another measure to keep rodents and other intruders away from the houses.
-
CEO Dr. Gustavo von Bassenheim: “We focus on biosecurity as we aim to produce according to the highest standards”.
-
Currently Ovobrand have 10 layer houses with a capacity of 128,000 birds each.
-
Ovobrand is expanding its facilities with five more houses, thus creating a total capacity of close to two million birds.
-
The layer houses were supplied by Big Dutchman from Germany and by Facco from Italy.
-
Feed is supplied by their own trucks. These never leave the premises and only drive in between the feed mill and the rearing and layer houses.
-
All relevant flock data and housing conditions are computer controlled through the BD and Facco management programs.
-
An inline conveyor belt runs through and in between the layer houses, thus connecting these to the adjacent processing plant.
-
Depending on the demand, eggs may alternatively be sold domestically as table eggs. In that case a special device in the belt is taking them to the grading and packing room.
-
The grading and packing room allows storage capacity for 16,000 cases of table eggs.
-
Candling is essential in order to minimise enclosures to end up in the process.
-
Upon arrival in the plant, all eggs which are taken to processing, are washed.
-
During the egg breaking, white and yolk are separated. Also whole eggs are being processed at Ovobrand.
-
The egg processing line has been built by Sanovo from Denmark.
-
Because of the very high demands which meet international standards, every stage in the process is taking place in a separate and closed room.
-
In order to avoid contaminants reaching the final product through the air, pressure in the various rooms differs. The highest pressure is in the final room.
-
Sewage water of the plant ends up in Artificial Dry Swamps, surrounding the Ovobrand facilities.
-
The end products are packed and sent to customers around the world.
-
Quality and characteristics of the end products are measured in Ovobrand’s own laboratory.
-
Samples of the various end products are kept for internal testing and quality control.
-
A brand new, state of the art facility, enables Ovobrand to be a specialist producer of high quality egg products.
