New US Poultry & Egg association chairman elected

Elton Maddox, Wayne Farms, Oakwood, Ga., has been elected chairman of the board of directors of U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY). The board meeting was held during the International Poultry Expo, part of the 2014 International Production & Processing Expo.

A native of Georgia, he received his BS in engineering from the University of Georgia. Maddox joined Wayne Farms in 1974 and has worked in a number of management positions within the company. He is currently president and CEO of Wayne Farms. In addition, he is a past chairman of the National Chicken Council and the Georgia Improvement Association and a past president of the Georgia Poultry Federation and the Georgia Poultry Processors Federation. He has served on the USPOULTRY board of directors since 2007.

Vice Chairman

Sherman Miller, Cal-Maine Foods, Jackson, Miss., was named vice chairman. A native of Mississippi, he received his BS in poultry science from Mississippi State University. Miller joined Cal-Maine Foods in 1997 where he worked in a variety of positions. He is currently chief operating officer for Cal-Maine Foods.

Treasurer

Paul Hill, West Liberty Foods, West Liberty, Iowa, was named treasurer. A native of Iowa, he received his BA in economics from St. Olaf College. He was instrumental in the founding of West Liberty Foods, a farmer-owned company, in 1996. He is currently chairman of West Liberty Foods, as well as president of Circle Hill Farms. In addition, he is a past chairman of the National Turkey Federation.

Secretary

Jerry Moye, Cobb-Vantress, Siloam Springs, Ark., was named secretary. A native of New Jersey, he graduated with a degree in economics from Washington College in Maryland. Moye spent 16 years in integrated chicken production for two large US integrators, Showell Farms of Maryland and Zacky Farms of California, before joining Cobb-Vantress in 1991, where he held a variety of positions. He is currently president of Cobb-Vantress, Inc.

Immediate Past Chairman

James Adams, Wenger Feeds, Rheems, Pa., is immediate past chairman. A native of Pennsylvania, he received his BS in poultry technology and management and a Masters in Business Administration, both from Penn State University. Adams joined Wenger Feeds in 1980 and has worked in a variety of responsibilities in egg production, feed manufacturing, transportation, purchasing, and sales and marketing. He is currently president and CEO of Wenger Feeds. He has served on the USPOULTRY board of directors since 2002.
