H5N8 outbreaks in Europe

Avian Influenza (AI) has reached Western Europe. The first outbreak was diagnosed in Germany in early November. Shortly after the highly contagious H5N8 strain was also found on a layer farm in the Netherlands. Next an outbreak occurred on a duck farm in the UK. Following a short hiatus the spread seemed to be under control, but subsequent outbreaks have occured again in Germany and the Netherlands and also Italy.
