Adisseo and Fermentalg sign partnership

Adisseo, an international expert in animal feed, and Fermentalg, an industrial biotechnology company that specialises in the production of compounds and molecules of interest derived from microalgae, have announced a new partnership.

The two groups have decided to combine their respective expertise in the joint development of new generations of proteins for animal feed.

“Today’s animal feed industry is faced with the dual dilemma of the sharp increase in demand for proteins and the constant depletion in marine resources. Thanks to their unique metabolism which draws on the best of both the animal and plant kingdoms, microalgae have a similar nutritional profile and value to fishmeal, making them a sustainable answer to this global challenge”, commented Pierre Calleja, founder and Chairman and CEO of Fermentalg. He adds: “We are delighted to be able to work with a global leader like Adisseo in rolling out our groundbreaking technology for the industrial production of microalgae across the new and major market of animal feed as we have already done on the human nutrition market.”

Jean-Marc Dublanc, CEO of Adisseo is looking forward to the cooperation:  “Fermentalg clearly has the vision, expertise, resources and original technology needed to quickly bring this groundbreaking project to the market. This technological partnership is a perfect illustration of Adisseo’s outward-looking and client-centric sustainable innovation strategy.”
