“Turkey production in Russia boomed in 2012”, stated Vladimir Fisinin, President of the Russian Union of Poultry Farmers speaking at a recent conference.

According Fisinin, in 2012 the industrial production of turkey meat in Russia amounted to 85,140 tonnes. The total production, involving private households, was estimated at 95,140 tonnes. Thus, over the last four years the industry almost doubled its productivity: in 2009 the country produced 43,000 tonnes of turkey, in 2010 – 64,720 tonnes, in 2011 – 68,480 tonnes.

Five largest producers of turkey meat are Evrodon in the Rostov region with 30,900 tonnes in 2012, or 36.3% of the total production volume on the Russian market, CJSC Krasnobor in Tula  produced16,500 tonnes, or 19.4%, JSC Indushkin in Krasnoyarsk region produced 9,110 tonnes, or 10.7%, OJSC Siberian province in the Kemerovo region produced 9 ,000 tonnes, or 10, 6% and Egorievskay poultry farm in the Moscow Region produced 5,000 tonnes, or 5.9%.

In total, turkey production is operating in 19 companies. According to Fisinin there are also nine complexes currently under construction that could possibly even double the level of turkey production in the country again.
