The largest Ukraine poultry producer, MHP, is exploring new destinations for export of fois gras in the European Union (EU) with a trial batch being sent to Slovakia.

“MHP has already sent a trial batch of 200 kg of fois gras to Slovakia,” the company said in a statement. “Negotiations for further deliveries are under way”.

In addition, MHP has entered into negotiations with the Netherlands and France to begin trial deliveries in November and December 2014 and in the beginning of 2015.

With the opening of this sales market, the company is looking to expand its fois gras exports to the EU. However, the company still considers the markets Belarus, Estonia and Hungary as destinations with higher priority.

“We have working with these markets on a regular basis since 2011. We exported two tonnes of fois gras per year to Belarus, one tonne to Estonia and one tonne to Hungary,” representatives of MHP confirmed.
