The price of poultry products in the Ukraine will not rise further than the current level until at least the end of 2014, that predicts the Union of Poultry Breeders of Ukraine (UPBU).

“I think prices will be stable. The devaluation of the hryvnia (Ukrainian currency) is already incorporated in prices,” commented UPBU’s Chairman Alexander Bakumenko.

Since the beginning of 2014, the exchange rate of hryvnia against dollar dropped heavily.

According to him, since the beginning of the year the prices of poultry have risen on average by 15%, mainly due to the devaluation factor that resulted in the growth of production costs. The prices of eggs rose by 13.5% since the beginning of the year.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Ukraine previously forecasted the increase in prices for poultry at 27% during 2014.

Bakumenko also noted that the main reasons for the stability of the prices of poultry meat and eggs are stable grain prices as well as the absence of negative macroeconomic influence.

The head of UPBU also forecasted that in 2014 the country will increase production of chicken meat by about 12% compared with 2013 – to 1.35 million tonnes.
