Russia sees an increase of poultry production in 2014
During the first 11 months of 2014, Russian poultry meat production increased more than 7%, while total egg output remained unchanged, according to a recent report of the Russian State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
"During the period of January-November of 2014 Russian poultry farms produced 3.5 million tonnes of poultry in live weight and poultry by-products, which is by 7.2% higher than during the same period of 2013, stated the report.
According to the State Programme for Agricultural Development and Regulation of Agricultural Products, Raw Materials and Food Markets for 2013–2020, in 2014 Russia should produce 4 million tonnes of poultry, a 12% increase year-on-year. However, experts note that this goal will most likely not be reached.
Most forecasts say that the actual growth of poultry production this year will not exceed 7-8%. USDA forecast the growth of poultry production in 2015 to be about 6% compared to 2014.
The report also says that egg production in agricultural enterprises during these 11 months remained at almost the same level as 2013 at 28.9 billion eggs. The average egg production per hen in agricultural enterprises increased by four eggs to 282.
