Ķekava to export poultry meat to Finland and China
Latvia’s largest poultry processor Putnu fabrika Kekava plans to launch export supplies to Finland, said Andris Viltsmeyers, chairman of the board of Kekava.
According to him the priority markets for the company now are the Baltic States and Scandinavia. Ķekava have already launched exports of poultry to Sweden and could soon begin exporting to Finland. “In the near future, it seems, we can begin to work with Finland,” said Viltsmeyers.
At the same time, he did not exclude the possibility that the company will begin shipping product to Norway, as the company is looking for the diversification of the geography of sales.
The chair also added that within the coming three years Ķekava plans to start exports of poultry to China. “We have requested the possibility to be certified for export to China. There’s quite a lengthy process and of course, the launching of export to China requires large batches of products. With our current volumes, we are of little interest. We need to increase the volume,” concluded Viltsmeyers.
In 2013, the turnover of Ķekava amounted to almost €38 million, with €5.2 million profit. The company belongs to the Lithuanian investment agricultural holding Linas Agro Group.
