Belarus now main supplier of poultry to Russia

In the first quarter of 2015 Belarus was the largest supplier of poultry meat to Russia. Belarus delivered a total of 14,9 thousand tonnes to Russia, an increase of 56,4%.

In 2014 the United States still were the largest exporter of poultry to Russia. Imports from the US accounted for 48,3% of all the poultry imports in Russia. In that year, Belarus accounted for 26,5% of all poultry imports in Russia.

Russian food embargo

After the Russian food embargo exports from the US to the Russian Federation came to a stop, making Belarus now the main exporter of poultry to Russia. Belarus exports several types of poultry meat, including duck meat. In 2014, the country exported 1,8 tonnes of duck meat.
