Jobs lost at Tyson poultry processing plant

// 15 May 2008

Taking effect in mid-June, US meat co. Tyson Foods will cut jobs at its poultry processing complex in Glen Allen, Va. Approx. 190 of 800 workers will be cut, affecting those in deboning and packaging positions.

"This project is part of an ongoing effort to optimise the use of our poultry plants by ensuring we're producing the right mix of products to meet the needs of our customers," said Tyson Foods vice president of operation Donnie King. "Unfortunately, it also involves the difficult process of eliminating some positions. We will be taking steps to help those who are losing their jobs."
