Pilgrim's Pride in JV to serve chicken to McDonald's

A joint venture, called Merit Provisions L.L.C., has
been formed between J.O.Y. Foods and Pilgrim’s Pride to build a new plant to
serve fast food giant McDonald’s.
J.O.Y. Foods will own 51% of the venture while
Pilgrim’s Pride will own 49%. The new joint venture will supply approx. 40 mln
lbs of chicken nuggets, patties and filets to McDonald’s each year.
It has been reported that the plant is to be operational by 2010.
