Egg production was 838.5 million during the same period last year. The difference, 58 million, represents a production decrease of 7% for the first quarter, reported the agency. The number of laying hens during the first quarter declined by 0.4% compare to 2011 levels. One of the main factors for the decreasing of egg production may be tough competition from Russia.
