Situated near Mûr de Bretagne in the heartland of the Brittany region in France, there’s the brand new processing facility of Boscher Volailles. Owned by the Glon group, Boscher has a clear vision by fully targeting the industrial market. Stork Poultry Processing built the state of art facility.

The birds are kept under blue light conditions upon arrival at the plant. This enables easy handling since blue light is invisible for chickens
Birds are stunned in the 2-phase controlled atmosphere stunning (CAS) tunnel. They don’t express much stress because of the blue light conditions
At the exit of the tunnel, workers can easily put the birds on shackles. They are irreversibly inconscious because of the CAS stunning
In an early stage of the process the carcases pass by a camera that individually measures these carcases and collects data
At the beginning of the processing line, accurate veterinary inspection takes place
Since the processing line is highly mechanised, hand labour is very limited
The carcass composition of every individual bird is virtually separated in sections and can be shown on a screen in the office
All available data of every individual carcase is stored in the computer system. Based on these data and customer demands, the carcase will follow a specific route in the plant
Based on 5 days per week and a 2 shift working day, Boscher Volailles produces roughly 500,000 birds per week
The plant of Boscher Volailles is prepared for handling heavy birds of up to 3.8 kilogram live weight.
The highly mechanised processing line of the state-of-art facility was built by Stork-Marel
By-products, such as skin, neck, liver and gizzard etc, are cleaned and packed separately and sold to other customers
Before being packed and stored, filets are checked and trimmed. This is a manual task
Boscher Volailles have their own trucks to take the fresh products to their customers in France and in other European countries
