VIV Turkey: International poultry show with regional fragrance

In Istanbul, Turkey, the 5th VIV Turkey tradefair for poultry technologies took place from June 9-11, 2011. A mixture of international and Turkish companies exhibited their products and services. Together they attracted visitors from Turkey and from primarily the Middle East region. Note a selection of the news at the fair in this photo gallery.

The VIV Turkey trade show took place from June 9-11 in Istanbul, Turkey.
According to show manager Bekir Cakici of VIV Turkey, the export value of the poultry industry in Turkey has increased from 85 million USD in 2008, to almost 150 million USD in 2009.
A major supplier of poultry equipment is Tavsan from Turkey. Apart from serving the domestic market, they also play a significant role on the export market, particularly in the Middle East region.
Strong international exhihibitors, such as Meyn Poultry Processing and Ishida, participated without displaying any machines. Instead their stand was a meeting place.
The other major supllier of poultry processing solutions, Marel Stork, displayed a selected number of small machines.
A new farm grader type machine was developed by BG Makina from Turkey. It has electronic weigh cells and an LCD touchscreen for adjusting the settings. A simple device enables putting a full tray of eggs to be put at the infeed belt.
Traditional cages are still widely used in Turkey, such as supplied by EGE.
Among the internationally operating companies, is Kutlusan from Turkey. They manufacture a wide range of cages and housing systems. Also they offer cages that meet with new EU standards from 2012.
VIV Turkey is an excellent venue for poultry farmers to become informed about products to fit to their situation. Here they learn about the products of the Alfan company.
Tavsan is introducing a new brolier pan feeder. A special rim must prevent the birds from spilling feed. Also the feeder is easily adjustable. The colour will be red. Green is just to gain public attraction at the show.
The interest for broiler cage systems is on the increase. One of the Turkish suppliers is Unallar who offers up to 5 tier systems.
Breeder nests for automatic egg collection are gaining ground. In order to use the available space as effectively as possible, a two tier system was developed by Turkish manufacturer Tarimar.
Teknoline introduces a modular watering system. It consists of light weight "click and go" elements, which can easlily be connected and disconnected. Their smooth surface enables easy cleaning.
Turkey is fairly strong in quail growing, for which Cimuka is supplying specialised housing systems. At the show they introduced a light weight poly urethane rearing cage which allows easy cleaning.
Cimuka is also supplying small size incubators for both the hobby market, as well as for small size hatcheries. Soon a professional series with 40,000 egg capacity will also be introduced. A first hatchery in India will be be installed with these machines.
Ross has a strong position on the brolier market in Turkey. This year, the Turkish subsidiary of Ross is celebrating their 10th anniversary.
It is not very common anymore to have live animals on a livestock tradeshow. Yet a few classical chicken breeds were on display at a stand.
Kutlusan developed a belt system in a kind of cage construction for drying poultry manure.
VIV Turkey was held in the IFM expo center in Istanbul, concurrently with the Animalia tradeshow for cattle production.
