Aus: Giant poultry property for sale, $23 mln

//22 Sep 2009
One of the largest poultry breeding facilities in Australia, the Purga Breeder Farms, near Ipswich in south-east Queensland, is for sale as an investment, The Australian Financial Review reports.

The property, which includes 17 poultry breeder facilities for the production of fertile eggs, covers 63 hectares and is leased to Baiada Poultry, which, since the acquisition of the Bartter and Steggles businesses earlier this year, is the largest integrated poultry operation in the country.

Reports state that at a price of $23 mln, the investment would show a yield of more than 10%.

The owner and asset manager is Santrev Operations. Two of its principals, Richard and Garry Sanday, have been building chicken sheds for 35 years and are planning further expansion of the construction operation.

As an alternative to a sale, they would welcome an "equity partner arrangement".
