The use of enzymes in the feed industry has a history of around 20 years. Enzymes are now widely used in poultry diets. There are many peer-reviewed publications indicating beneficial effects of enzymes in improving the nutritional values of wheat, barley, oats, rye, and triticale and also production performance of poultry.
It is known that a reduction of intestinal viscosity is the most likely mechanism of action of these enzymes.
There are also some reports on beneficial effects of adding enzymes to corn-soybean meal-based diets in improving nutrient digestibility. As an example, it has been demonstrated that supplementation of the diets with enzymes improved the digestibility of the nutrients and performance of broiler chickens fed corn-soybean meal-based diets.
Is the addition of enzymes to corn-soybean meal-based diets a common practice in the poultry industry in your country? Broilers or laying hens; which one benefits most from this addition? Do you think that this addition can make any difference in your economic returns? Let's share our experiences here.

in my opinion The use of corn-soybean mael-based enzymes such as beta mananase in the poultry feed is very important for digestibility of manann and other oligosaccharide and reduce viscosity of digestive tract.in my country Iran recently we use some enzyme for corn-soybean meal-based diet on broiler feed and the result of these enzyme was very good.

I am a poultry nutrionist and consultant in Namakkal,Tamilnadu,India.I am using multienzyme in diet of both layers and broilers and giving good results.Let me know, How much amount of enzymes can be used in one ton of feed.At present I am using 500g of enzymes per ton of feed.If i use more than 500g is it useful.

How can we explain that NSP enzymes (xylanase) can work on a corn-soy based diet when the arabinoxylans present are mainly on the non soluble kind?
Xylanases have no effect on the kind of fiber present in SBM???
Aren't the enzymes substrate specific?

I think enzymes will show the beneficial effects when add in the diets (corn-soybean based diets) for young chicks. Adding enzymes in adult poultry probably will not show the beneficial effects. Anyway, it will show the good result for adult poultry when the nutritonal content of diets are decreased from the standard recommendation. Since enzyme additional can increasing digestibility of nutrient but poultry requirement is limitted.

Yes, we use enzymes for both Broiler & Layer diets in a Corn-Soya based formulation. But, it is a big concern about the stability in the conditioning process especially for Broiler Feeds!

Enzymes are commonly used in India, esp cocktail enzymes& the predominant one being phytase. What is the optimum dose for Phytase 5000 FYT for layers&broilers?

Arabinoxylanes forms also the major NSP fraction in Corn. However they are completely insoluble. So an enzyme (only Xylanase!) will have only effect if it is able to cut the insoluble fraction ! It is known that the bacterial Xylanase has a significant effect !

Developing enzyme preparations for animal nutrition is done by matching the appropriate enzymes to the substrate present in the avialable feedstuffs. There are ample opportunities in legumes such as soy-bean meal. Impextraco has developed a multi-component enzyme preparation for use in maize/soy diets and other diets rich in legumes.
Zympex 008 contains
alfa-galactosidase, beta-mannanase, pectinase, beta-glucanase, xylanase, protease, amylase and cellulase activity. alfa-galactosidase breaks down the antinutritional galacto-oligosaccharides; beta-mannanase splits mannan-polymers to mannan-oligosaccharides (MOS).
Supplementing corn/soy diets with Zympex 008 gives significant improvements in growth rate, FCR, energy and ileal amino acid digestibility in broilers. More information is available on request. www.impextraco.com

If ever any enzyme(s) is/are useful in corn-soybean meal based diets, it should be the oligosaccharidases intended to enhance digestibility of the oligosaccharides in SBM. However, it is very difficult to show consistent effects of such enzymes.

Enzyme use in soya based poultry diets does increase effeciency in terms of growth and egg production, however limitations do exist and ionophore toxicity is to be kept into consideration.

enzymes are substrate specific and one have to choose enzyme combinations based on the raw materials he is using in his formulations.Enzymes can increase the undigested percentage of any ingredient to some extent and using enzymes over the dose indicated may not yield good result. how can i check the enzyme activity after the feed is pelleted.

The use of enzymes in poultry diets is very useful tool to improve performance when barely, wheat and triticale are the main carbohydrate source. However, there are some interesting results about the role of enzymes in maize-soybean based diets, although, full and consistent responses was not almost achieved. There are also results about the use of enzymes in broiler and layers diets, however, direct experiments to compare their response is missing (to the best of knowledge), however, common believe is that broiler is more affected than layers and birds of younger ages are more influenced than older ones. The use of enzymes should always depends on diet composition and the match between enzymes activity of the cocktail and substrate (target substance) in the diet.

hi,can anybody tell me what enzymes shall be included in early broiler and early chick feed to increase efficiency??

for mr robert gauthier ,
you are correct only if these xylanases are fungal xylanse but we can only use bacterial xylanse enzyme very succesfully on corn - soya diets as the bacterial xylanses are the only xylanase which can work on the non soluble part of the arabinoxylanse but the fungal xylanase can not do any effect over it

for mr robert gauther , you are completly correct if you use fungal xylanase becuse it has no effect on insoluble part of arabinoxylanse ,and as the highest proportion of ax fiber in corn are insoluble so we have to use only the bacterial xylabse , it is the only type of xylanase enzyme which can act on the insoluble part of ax fiber so can give a good resultes with corn - soy rations

to Dr.Asaad El-sabbagh Egypt
You have to look to the diet composition and the composition of the enzyme mixture to find the match and dose of the enzymes

Biologically active amino acids synthesised through cell pathway synthesis have shown considerable growth promotion as extra cellular transcription factors by increasing mRNA thus enhancing metabolic mechanisms from within nucleus and reaching DNA, it has increased immunity and reduced the feed requirement without compromising the regular growth parameters. These factors have increased the milk output by 10%, fat by 15% as per trials conducted in Mexico. In poultry trials reduction in the usage of antibiotics, broilers growth period less than 42 days, reduction in feed, increase in immunity, maintaining normal egg production by minimising the stress/shcok effects have been observed.
