The seminar, organised by manufacturer of feed ingredients, AB Vista, gave delegates a practical insight into how to get the best performance from feed through the use of its market-leading enzymes.
Dr. Rob ten Doeschate, AB Vista’s Technical Manager, presented a technical paper to the delegates, showing how best to deliver enzymes to maximise return. Dr. Rob ten Doeschate said: “The seminar allowed me to present detailed data of ingredients used in poultry feeds such as fibre content, and to illustrate the anti-nutritional factors present in soybean meal and other protein sources.
“An important reality I also wanted to communicate to the audience was the purpose of NSP enzymes. I was able to verify that NSP enzymes are not present in order to produce sugars, but to reduce the negative effects of NSPs on the digestibility of other nutrients, be it through reducing viscosity or through degradation of cell walls giving digestive enzymes access to nutrients.
“The seminar also provided a platform to discuss the fact that phytase and xylanase are the most effective enzymes for poultry feeds. My address detailed phytate and its anti-nutritional effects and how it reduces protein digestion, and phytase and its ability to break down phytate and release phosphorus, calcium and sodium, whilst also delivering benefits in terms of energy, amino acids and proteins.
“The seminar enabled us to share all this vital information with customers helping them to gain a better understanding of the value of using enzymes, which will increase profitability.”
