Chicken lays giant egg, UK

// 12 May 2008

It was an exciting discovery when a huge chicken egg was discovered at a chicken farm in Cornwall, UK.

According to owners David and Julie Hewitt, they were amazed when they found the egg that's the size of a tennis ball.

It is not known which of the hens laid this giant egg, but the Hewitt's have not seen anything like it in 25 years of farming.

The giant egg, which is four times the size of a normal chicken's egg, weighs 210 g and measures more than 20 cm circumference.
