South Korea to build bird flu vaccine factory

Health officials have stated that a factory to produce a human bird flu vaccine will soon be built in South Korea.

 
The factory, which will be built next year at Hwasun, 270 km south of Seoul, will produce enough vaccine to treat 20 mln people each year. It also promised to secure enough stocks of the antiviral flu medicine Tamiflu to treat 10 mln people by 2012.
The factory at Hwasun will be operated by local pharmaceutical firm Green Cross.
