Russia cutting tariff quotas on US poultry

// 31 Jul 2008

It has been reported that market lobbies from Russia and the US have agreed to cut tariff quotas on US poultry imports in 2009.

This proposed agreement between the USA Poultry and Egg Export Council (USAPEEC) and the Russian Poultry Meat Market Operators Association will result in a reduction in the 2009 US tariff quota from 931,500 t to 750,000 t.
President of USAPEEC stated that it is not yet known what the exact quota in 2009 will be as there exists an agreement between the two governments. "But we have witnessed a dramatic increase in Russian domestic production … and we have to accept the reality," he said.
