Petit Jean Poultry closing poultry processing plant

// 05 Aug 2008

As a result of Tyson Foods declining to renew the contract, Petit Jean Poultry will close its poultry processing plant in Missouri, US.

The plant, which provides contract deboning for larger processors, will reportedly close by 4 October, eliminating over 450 jobs.
According to Mayor Jerry Hardesty, if the plant were to be sold, it would still have to be used for poultry processing because it isn't easily adaptable for another purpose. However, when it closed before, they tried to sell, but they didn't have any buyers, he said.
