World's largest egg laid in Cuba

// 06 Aug 2008

A Cuban chicken owner believes that his chicken has laid the world's largest egg.

The 6.34 ounce (179.7 g) egg was laid by a 1-year old hen in Campo Florido, Cuba. It is reported that the egg was 0.35 ounces (10 g) heavier than the current record-holder from the Canary Island with an egg weighing less than 6 ounces (170 g).
Everyone is amazed at how large it is", says Estela Guerra, the owner of the chicken who has had chickens for a very long time, and who say she has never seen anything like it.
