Russia reviews decision on US poultry ban 29 Sep 2008
Next month, Russia will review its decision to ban 19
US poultry companies from exporting to the country.
Russia will review trade agreements with up to five countries, with one
being the US, said Chief Foreign Trade Negotiator Maxim Medvedkov. The 2005
US-Russia bilateral meat agreement, although it has not yet run its 5-year
course, will also be under review.
In August, it was announced that Russia would ban 19 US poultry producers
from exporting to the country, and subsequently announced that it was cutting
all of its poultry imports by 17%.
