New turkey thigh/drumstick de-boner

//05 May 2009
Food and meat equipment manufacturing and service company Foodmate has developed the FM 8-50 Turkey Thigh and Drumstick De-boner.

The FM 8-50 is designed to process male and female turkeys on the same machine. There is a design feature that moves the thigh and drumstick into position to get the proper and accurate cuts on both the male and female. It can de-bone 40-45 thighs and drumsticks per minute and is capable of handling birds weighing up to 60 pounds, says the company.

"The ability to run both male and female birds on the same machine is new to the industry,” said Foodmate owner David Hazenbroek. "The weight difference between the male and female birds can be up to 20%. Processors can achieve optimal yield and performance at high speeds on both sexes without having to make adjustments.

This piece of equipment can be loaded by one worker and has an automatic unloading device for the de-boned thigh meat and bones. It can also de-bone turkey prime wing parts.
