Organic farming survey
The survey will focus on 2008 and will look at various aspects of organic farming, from production and marketing practices to income and expenses. It will involve operations that are currently engaged in organic production, as well as those making the transition to organic agriculture.
According to the USDA, the results of the organic farming survey will help shape future decisions regarding farm policy, funding allocations, availability of goods and services, community development and other key issues.
In early May, the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service will mail the survey to all known organic producers in the US, who are asked to respond by 17 June.
It is reported that the results will be published by next winter.
