VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review

1. Vencomatic developed a revolutionary new feed pan for breeders. Because of its flexible bottom, the feed keeps its composition since the breeders keep the bottom moving when they are eating. All pans in the whole house will be filled at the very same time, thanks to a vacuum operated valve in every pan. A reference pan determines when this needs to happen. A new portion of feed which is kept in a buffer will then fall into the pan. This creates very simultaneous a uniform feed distribution.

Because the bottom is made of flexible material, the cone can be pushed downwards, which then gets the shape of a funnel. That enables easy cleaning. The new pan is available for rearing, breeder hens and roosters.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery

2. Jansen Poultry introduces the new “Design your own comfort” aviary concept. This means that the Comfort 2 aviary system can be equipped with all kinds of modular extensions. Examples are: the “Inside” option for those customers who choose for wider alleys between the aviaries, the “Fully Automatic” option for those who choose to collect in the eventual system eggs automatically and two kinds of slats.
Comfort 2 systems are standard equipped with the layMaxx automatic nest.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery

3. MagixX-B is an exhaust air treatment system which has been newly developed by Big Dutchman. It is an exhaust air treatment system for poultry management which fulfils the demanding criteria of the DLG (German Agricultural Society) Signum test for ammonia and total dust with a filtration efficiency of at least 70 percent. Certification measurements prove, that the reduction in emissions can be up to 85 percent in the case of ammonia and up to 89 percent in the case of total dust. A positive side effect of the dust separation is that germ and odour emissions can be reduced significantly.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery

4. Petersime introduces the new S-line range of single-stage incubators. The S-line is an entire family of setter and hatcher configurations for incubation of chicken, turkey and duck eggs, with capacities ranging from 14,112 to 115,200 eggs. It exists in two product ranges: The AirStreamerPlus a standard version, including all the essential functionalities
of a modern single-stage incubator. The BioStreamer is a high-tech model with an advanced user interface and autopilot functionality, based on Petersime’s patented Embryo-Response Incubation technology.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery

5. Eos is the new pan feeder for broilers from SKA. It was engineered to achieve optimum results throughout the growing period. Thanks to its design, the Eos prevents young chicks from entering the pan, thus avoiding spillage and feed contamination. Switching from growing to the adult phase is simple. The feeding level is centrally adjusted by lifting the whole feeder. The Eos offers six feed levels.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery

6. At the occasion of VIV, poultry personality awards are given to people who have strongly contributed to progress in poultry production. This is an initiative of VIV and Positive Action Publications. Dr. Marleen Boerjan (centre), director R&D of the Pas Reform Academy was awarded European Poultry Breeding Personality 2010. The title European Poultry Personality 2010 went to Henry Kuhl of the Kuhl Corporation (left). The European Pig Personality award went to Erik Thijssen of the European Pig Association.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery

7. According to Chore Time, their new Genesis double pan feeds 50 percent more birds per linear meter of feeder line than a chain feeder. With the Genesis, broiler breeder producers can feed 72 breeder hens per 3,66 meters of feeder line. For pullets, producers can feed up to 88 birds per feeder tube with four Genesis pans.

Available in various pan-per-tube configurations, each Genesis offers 18 grill openings. Dual feed inlets in every feeder promote even feed distribution as well as accommodating a variety of feed types. The 45-degree angle on the feeder tube provides more space between pans for easier access to drinkers and nests.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery

8. As if it were in a real processing plant, Meyn was giving demonstrations of a deboning line. A completely chilled room was built in which these demonstrations were given every other hour. Interested customers had the opportunity to see the Rapid HQ Breast deboner and WLD whole leg deboner functioning. Really an informative way of demonstrating equipment.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery

9. In order to produce large numbers of uniform, robust day old chicks, Pas Reform is introducing SmartPro, an advanced solution for modular, single-stage incubation that enables so-called “Circadian Incubation”.

Detailed research has shown that robustness can be achieved by stimulating the embryo with a specific trigger, such as stimulation by heat or cold, during critical periods of the incubation process. This causes so-called “embryonic imprinting” on a physiological level, to produce a chicken that will thrive in its farm environment.

Such daily short-term thermo-conditioning is at the heart of Circadian Incubation and known to improve hatchability, for long-lasting effects that include 1-2% increase in final body weight and 1-2 points better feed conversion rates.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery

10. Moba introduces a complete series of robot applications for the egg industry. Their aim is to supply a “toolbox” of elements from which many flexible tailor made configurations can be created.

To achieve this goal, Moba teamed up with Motoman, a global supplier of industrial robots. That enabled the selection of suitable robots for tasks in the egg industry. This in itself is a revolution, since many bad robot experiences in the industry were caused by wrongly (over-) dimensioned systems, which were developed for the automobile industry.

The Robotics series will include robot cells with case packing, display loading, tray- and case palletising and de-palletising abilities.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery

11. Another new product from Moba is the 150 CPH Farmpacker. This is a packer that processes 6 eggs in parallel, combining this with a continues moving system. The speed of the system is automatically adapting to the amount of eggs that are available on the intelligent accumulator. Here the eggs are accumulated in such a way that the system predicts the availability of eggs at the entry ports of the packer some seconds in advance. The packer will then adjust the speed so that a smooth motion will continuously pack all the incoming eggs. This means no waiting for the 6th egg as long as the supply of eggs is adequate.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery

12. On the egg processing side, Sanovo introduces wave technology. This new pasteurization technology is an innovative system that can claim to produce extended shelf life while products maintaining the functional properties.

It is a patented system that exposes the liquid egg to electromagnetic waves generated by an electric field. Under this process, the water molecules point in the same direction as the electric field. The continuous reversion of the electric field polarity generates kinetic energy which in turn creates a heating effect. The heat is created by intermolecular friction, stressing bacteria but not the functional properties. A processor can achieve 10 times more bacterial inactivation compared to other pasteurizers, without influencing the functional properties.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery

13. Linco Food Systems demonstrated their Advanced Processing Solution (APS). At VIV they also launched the intelligent APS software, which optimises processes throughout the plant. APS software gives required management tools to analyse and optimise production output and gives an exact view on the production processes.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery

14. Stork Poultry Processing nowadays is fully owned by Marel. In order to create more synergies between both companies, they have put their strengths together. In the past few years this has lead to improved distribution channels already. Moreover their product portfolios have been brought together visibly and are being offered nowadays as integrated solutions. As a result these have been put together as “Best of both”.VIV Europe 2010 - Product Review photo gallery
