Biosecurity is a word frequently used in the poultry
industry worldwide but it seems that it is one of those technical terms which
has not been well-received. Is biosecurity simply implementing visitor control
and farm cleaning? In reality, a solid biosecurity program goes far beyond
these.
There are so many publications on biosecurity which
are available to the industry and I am sure that you have, at least, a couple of
them on your desk in your workstation. Many workshops/seminars have been
organized over the past 10-15 years to discuss different aspects of a
comprehensive biosecurity program. The main objective of all these efforts has
been to emphasize how important biosecurity is.
Here are a few questions which we can discuss
in this blog :
1. Where are we now compared to a decade ago?
2. Do you personally believe in biosecurity?
3. How do you put words into action when it comes to biosecurity?
4. Does your biosecurity program achieve what you think it does?
5. If you believe in biosecurity, have you ever tried to encourage your
colleagues in the industry to take biosecurity measures serious?

6. Why is it so difficult to convince people involved in the industry to pay
attention to these rules?
